Fiercely proud of their heritage you will find that most towns, villages and cities across France will be celebrating their Fete Nationale, or Bastille Day as it also known.

La Fête Nationale is celebrated annually in France on the 14th July. Everyone has the day off work and fireworks will light up the skies in every city, town and village across the land.

Commemorating the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, during the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. This important date in history happens to arrive just at the beginning of the school holiday season, meaning that you are quite likely to be able to enjoy one of France's largest and most popular celebrations during your holiday here in Antibes.

Due to the tragic events that occurred in 2016 in Nice during their Bastille Day celebrations, the city of Nice will have a day of tribute to pay homage to those who lost their lives in the terrible attack on the Promenade des Anglais. As a result, the traditional fireworks in Antibes will be postponed until the 15th and 16th July this year, in 2017.

This weekend the fireworks will take place on Saturday 15th July 2017 at 22:30 over the Baie de Juan-les-Pins and on Sunday 16th July at 22:00 on the Promenade du Ponteil and la Salis in Antibes itself. So you will have two chances to enjoy this fantastic holiday filled with light and colour.
