Glamorous, quirky, exotic & hip cocktail bars in Antibes

featured in News & reviews Author Jo Morgan, Antibes Reporter Updated

From glamorous seafront terraces to cosy cocktail bars tucked away in medieval lanes, the Antibes bar scene is undergoing a revolution.

We’ve put together a list of bars that you should really check out while you're on holiday in Antibes.

Cafe Royal Restaurant, Antibes restaurant terrasse

Café Royal

Because it is on the terrace of the large seafront Royal Antibes hotel, a lot of visitors pass the Café Royal by on their way back home from the beach, not realising that it’s an absolutely smashing place for a cocktail (or a beer or wine) on a summer evening. The huge sea-view terrace is covered in low wicker lounges and ‘coastal-chic’ décor, and the cocktail menu is full of delicious and interesting concoctions, as well as a good range of classics. Be aware that the specialist cocktail bartender doesn’t start until about 5pm but it’s worth the wait, as these are the best cocktails to be found in Antibes.

Our pick for: Delicious and innovative cocktails, twilight summer evenings, and beautiful views.

Les Larmes de Bacchus, Antibes interior

Les Larmes de Bacchus Wine Bar

This gorgeous little wine bar, Les Larmes de Bacchus, is tucked away in the ‘yachting precinct’ and was the ground-breaker for fashionable new bars in Antibes when it opened in 2014. Run by a friendly young French couple, this bar changed the Antibes bar scene with their intimate little venue where you can drink wine and snack on olives and cheese while sitting at huge wine barrels or on cosy little couches. With a warm ambience, it draws a great mix of locals and yacht crew.

Our pick for: A great wine list, friendly owners and a lovely ambience.

Cafe Brun, Antibes bar

Café Brun Bar

A relatively new offering in the Antibes bar scene is the funky and hugely popular Café Brun. With bicycles hanging from the ceiling, big leather armchairs, a wood-and-brick décor and some stylish artwork adorning the walls, this bar has personality in droves. Hang out in the front bar under the bicycles, enjoy the summer air outside on the terrace, have dinner in the atmospheric dining room, or hunker down in the little den under hundreds of eclectic lampshades. A very cool spot with a great wine list, a wide range of liquors, and some beers on tap.

Our pick for: Sheer class with some fantastic and funky décor on the side.

O6 Concept Store Wine & Design, Antibes interior

06 Concept Store Wine & Design

O6 Concept Store Wine & Design is another stunning bar marking Antibes’ chic revolution. This wine bar and live music venue is also a design store resulting in gorgeous décor over four levels. This place is a feast for the senses; you might see a vintage motorcycle leaning against a wall covered in trumpets, or listen to a live jazz quartet in a cave room with a vaulted ceiling and exposed stone walls. The decor marries a rustic Moroccan feel with a fashionable slant of industrial chic and it’s done with resounding good taste. This place has a cosy, buzzy ambience that draws locals, tourists, and yachties alike, and the owner Karine’s passion for good wine, good company, and good music really shows.

Our pick for: Live music, friendly hospitality, ambience…and a little shopping! C’est unique!

Zinc Restaurant, Antibes interior

Le Zinc Wine Bar

There are no bicycles hanging from the ceiling or industrial lampshades, but this Provencal-style wine bar and restaurant, Zinc Wine Bar, has a truly brilliant position at the top of the covered market, lending it a bustling feel and great people-watching throughout the day and night. It’s much cheaper than any other wine bar we know of in town with decent wine starting at 4 euro a glass, rather than the 7-10 euro at other wine bars in town. Even better, this place serves some very good food on their menu as well as charcuterie plates, so get comfortable! It’s a husband and wife team here and it has a nice homely feeling.

Our pick for: Good, cheap wine and splendid people-watching.

Pam Pam, Juan les Pins

Pam-Pam Rhumerie Bar

If you like your cocktails served in coconuts and with little umbrellas, then Pam-Pam is for you. This cocktail bar is actually over the hill in Juan-les-Pins and has some of the best people watching on earth from its pavement tables in the summer. The cocktail menu is huge and very colourful, although cocktail experts will probably think it’s a touch on the tacky side. There’s South-Pacific themed entertainment too: think grass skirts, drums and fake palm trees. Again, whether you think that’s fun or tacky….is entirely up to you. One thing is sure: Pam-Pam is a local institution.

Our pick for: A huge cocktail list, colourful people-watching, and sheer fun.
