Azur is the new black

Lock down this hot property in Grasse

featured in News & reviews Author Pam Williamson, Antibes Editor Updated

Are you tempted by a move to the French Riviera? Ever thought of own a home in the centre of the charming village of Grasse? Well, now is your chance...

The Ministry of Economy and Finance have advertised a former prison in Grasse as 'for sale'. Without a doubt this property comes with numerous rooms, although a 4x4 cell with bars on the window might not be quite the Mediterranean view that you were hoping for.

This traditional prison was built in the late 19th century, around a central nave lit by a glass roof, and is located in the centre of Grasse. Inactive as a prison since the early 1990s the building is now advertised as 'free from occupation' - phew!

Downsides of the sale are that it does not come with a garage or parking, although they do admit that it 'needs work'.

If you fancy a bit of project or it has been a life-long dream to remodel a prison in the south of France then now is your chance. Deadline for submission of bids is the 14th October 2016 and a deposit of €50,000 is required to participate in the tender.
