The Hotel du Cap Eden Roc is much more than just a hotel, it has become an icon of the glitz and glamour of the Cote d'Azur. This legendary status has been recognised once again at the Condé Nast Reader's Travel Awards 2018 where it has been given the title of "Best Europe, Turkey & Russia Hotel".

Located at the tip of Cap d'Antibes, with privileged views over the Mediterranean sea, it was built as a private villa in 1870. Defined as "the place where old-world glamour meets modern luxury", ever since its opening as a hotel in 1889, its rooms and famed seafront cabanas have hosted the creme de la creme. American writers F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway retreated here while Chagall and Picasso sketched masterpieces in its beachside cabanas.

Nowadays, the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc is one of the favourite stomping grounds among the celebrities attending the nearby Cannes Festival. In fact, one of the most prestigious events taking place during this cinema fete, the AmfAR gala, takes place here every year. Karl Lagerfeld has chosen it as the setting of more than one Chanel photo shoot, as has Dior.

Whichever way you look at it, this place is much more than just a hotel and it has become part of the history of the French Riviera. As Condé Nast have put it, "It's a challenge to define exactly what makes Hotel du Cap Eden Roc so wonderful. [...] Quite apart from the saturated colours of glorious landscape on this peninsula, the sparkling light is just so flattering that as you trip down its fabled Grande Allée to the water you cannot help but feel life is good."
