Seven scents of Louis Vuitton

LV branches out into the perfume market in Grasse

The iconic luxury brand, Louis Vuitton, that was founded in 1854 will be adding perfume to the growing list of fashion and travel items that are branded with the label's LV monogram.

With a long and illustrious history in making travel trunks and leather goods it should come as no surprise that when Louis Vuitton decided to branch out into perfume, they came straight to Grasse in the south of France; known for its long-established perfume industry.

Vuitton purchased Les Fontaines Parfumées, a property in Grasse that has an actual perfume fountain installed in the rotunda. Since the 1920s visitors would come to fill their bottles directly from the fountain. The estate is now the cornerstone of the Louis Vuitton perfumes and will serve as an olfactory creative centre.

The range of seven scents which are due to be released on 7th September 2016 are the product of master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, a native of Grasse, the birthplace of both perfume and leather craftsmanship. Belletrud spent months travelling the world in search of inspiration, breathing the fragrance of exotic places and rare materials.

Louis Vuitton joins names such as Dior and Fragonard in Grasse.
