'Fans of the Bicycle' at the Postcard Museum
Celebrating old postcards with a bicycle theme
In addition to the permanent collection, the Postcard Museum (Musee de la carte Postale) presents an exhibition of old postcards on the theme of the bicycle, before 1914.
A more accessible dream than buying a car, owning a bicycle gave you a status slightly above average. Postcards from this early period of the twentieth century show all the new inventions and were quick to focus on the bicycle.
The passion that France has for cycling would lead to the creation in 1903 of the first Tour de France and the revelation of its champions, nicknamed "the Kings of the little Queens."
