Businessman Patrick Diter built the impressive château in the hills of the Riviera, near to Grasse, between 2000 and 2012.

However the building has allegedly been completed with planning permission. The court in Grasse has now granted Mr Diter a six month extension to present the appropriate documentation to prove what buildings previously existed on the site, along with bills, estimates and surveys which should be included with such a build.

The site, which is now a popular and exclusive venue used for weddings and other such events has been subject to complaints by local residents who claim that 'noisy parties' are hosted there. It was after these complaints that the château itself came to the attention of the court.

The local council has presented evidence that states numerous fines and orders to cease work were ignored over the years. It is thought that the original site consisted of just a farmhouse, whereas it now has several thousand square metres of buildings, two helipads and three swimming pools. A château fit for a king!
