From Antibes to NYC

French Riviera favourite, Le Michelangelo, opens in New York

The outstanding Antibes restaurant that is always a hit with the rich and famous, has opened a sister branch in the hip and trendy New York district of Soho.

Le Michelangelo Restaurant has been at home in the ancient wine cave of Domaine Ott in Antibes for more than twenty years. An authentic Italian restaurant that attracts the likes of Robert DeNiro, George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio...to name but a few. There is barely a night that goes by during the summer months that you won't see a famous face or two huddled in the dark corners of this old stone wine cellar. With a reputation for good quality food, and a great ambience it should come as no surprise that the concept has travelled across the water to NYC.

Known only as MAMO, the decor harks back to the original with the same furniture and vintage movie posters that adorn the walls. However, situated on the second floor of a Soho building the ambience is not quite the same as the dark and atmospheric wine cellar of Antibes. The new restaurant boasts Michelin-starred chef Massimo Sola (formerly of Eataly Roma, Ristorante Quattro Mori) as executive chef. With rave reviews, the new MAMO NYC has already become a celebrity hotspot with guests that include Jay Z, Beyonce and Rihanna.

For now, I think we'll stick to the original right here on our doorstep, but it's good know that we can always find a home away from home across the water.
