Jellyfish Plague the Beaches of Antibes

Warnings were in place on several beaches on Sunday afternoon

The coast guard has reported that they recorded at least fifty people on Sunday morning who had been stung by the jellyfish.

So although swimming was not prohibited they were urging members of the public to be careful if they were intending to swim. The 'orange' warning flag was flying to alert people to the risks. It is thought that the recent wind had attracted the jellyfish closer to the shore.

In some areas the jellyfish were said to be so abundant that the swarms were like clouds in the water. The warning flag is not currently in place but it will be raised again if the situation re-occurs. People should remain vigilant.
