32 communities in the Alpes-Maritime affected by the 'natural disaster'

As the clear up begins in earnest, the residents of the Riviera are being urged to seek assistance where available for property damage, as well as emotional trauma.

Riviera Radio has daily news updates and more information can be found on their website. The main points from the last few days are highlighted as follows:

  • The French government has officially declared the area to be a natural disaster zone.
  • You should contact your insurance company immediately with details of property damage.
  • Tap water is safe to drink.
  • Rail services and transport links will continue to be disrupted so check details before you travel.
  • Counsellors have been made available for those who are suffering from psychological trauma.
  • Repairs to telephone lines, including broadband internet, could take up to two weeks.
