Getting amorous in Antibes

The restaurant is so popular in fact that it has opened a branch in New York! Another local treat is the lovely Le Figuier de Saint Esprit, which delivers Michelin-starred gastronomy in a pretty courtyard setting with a fig tree.

L'Enoteca Wine Bar has just the right the dimly-lit, glamorous ambience required for a special date night—whether it’s the first or the hundredth. The wine bar Les Larmes de Bacchus is also an excellent option, particularly after 8pm when the crowds leave and you can get the couch nestled away in the corner. If you’re after a cocktail on a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, then the barman at the Royal Antibes Hotel makes the best cocktails on this stretch of Riviera (after 5pm).

Forget slogging it up the hill to the lighthouse; take the coastal path around the Cap d’Antibes in the twilight - you’ll get magical views back across the Bay of Angels to the dusky snow-capped Alps in the distance. If you choose to start your walk from Plage de la Garoupe on the Cap d’Antibes, there’s an exceedingly beautiful coastal walk around to the Bay of Millionaires - but be aware that it’s quite a long walk and you don’t want to leave it too late.

If you love French food, why not make a great memory with a cooking class? Spend the day with a Michelin starred chef or join one of the cookery courses at the local Ecole de Cuisine in nearby Mougins. Other activities might be to make a trip to one of Grasse’s famous parfumeries, or visit a nearby vineyard for cellar door tastings.

The Royal Antibes Hotel has by far the best spa offering in Antibes. The Cinq Mondes Spa, has several treatment rooms as well as a day spa area with Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Just along the coast in the town of Villeneuve-Loubet, the Thalas Soleil & Spa is dedicated to health and well-being and offers many day packages.
