The French Riviera has warmed up nicely and the visitors are flocking to the beaches around Antibes as the summer season reaches its peak. However, you'll find there’s much more to do than relaxing on a sun lounger all day here, as the events calendar is jam-packed in July.

Here's a sneak peek at some of the events we're particularly looking forward to throughout July in Antibes.

Jazz a Juan Festival

The month of July is filled with music from various countries and in a variety of settings. The famous Jazz a Juan Festival kicks off on the July 12th, so get ready for some top music on the Cote d'Azur. The programme for 2019 includes Ben Harper, Jamiroquai, Diana Krall and George Benson among others. Even if jazz isn't your thing, the atmosphere around this event is electric – one not to be missed this summer!

Notre Dame de Bon Port Fete

The rich traditions of this seaport town mean that they enjoy four days of celebration during the Fetes de Notre Dame de Bon Port festival. Honouring the Virgin Mary, this event is organised by the mariners of Antibes to thank her for her protection whilst at sea. Expect lots of processions through the town.

Live Jazz at the Royal Jazz Lounge

More music, this time live jazz at the prestigious Royal Jazz Lounge. Enjoy one of their signature cocktails or a glass of wine while you listen to the best jazz in Antibes. Every Thursday during the summer, different trios of musicians perform jazz music, from classic to jazz mixed with local rhythms, soul, blues or even Latin American beats. From 19:00.

Promenade en Fete

The neighbouring town of Cagnes-sur-Mer hosts a splendid seafront party with live music, DJs and free entertainment and activities for all ages. 2019 will be celebrating 22 years of the 'Promenade en Fete', which sees the seafront void of cars and free for pedestrians for one night only.

Nuits du Sud Festival

The Nuits du Sud Festival, in the town of Vence, brings together artists from all around the world in what has now become a major event in the Riviera calendar. Taking place from July up 19th until August 2nd 2019, you really need to study the programme to ensure that you don't miss out on some of the best music of the summer, including Eagle Eye Cherry, Gilberto Gil, Synapson or Yuri Buenaventura.

Summer Nights at the Hippodrome

The Cote d'Azur horse racing course, the Hippodrome in Villeneuve-Loubet, organises a whole host of events during the summer on selected evenings. Horse races, beautiful equine shows, lots of activities for children, dinner at the track's restaurants and fireworks to finish it all off. The summer events kick off with a grand party on July 12th from 17:30 when the Grand Prix de la Ville de Cagnes-sur-Mer will take place, which is free and open to all.

Bastille Day

France's national festival is celebrated on July 14th every year to commemorate the Storming of the Bastille in 1789, which started the French Revolution. The Bay of Antibes and Juan les Pins will put on a spectacular fireworks show with lights and sound on the evening of the 13th and the 14th. More than 10,000 people are expected to attend.

Festival de Saint Paul de Vence

Classical music fans also have an unmissable event in July, the Festival de Saint Paul de Vence. Taking place in several iconic locations around this Riviera town, including the Place de la Courtine at the foot of the castle walls, or the Fondation Maeght in between sculptures made by Miró, this festival celebrates chamber music.
